Analysing Ethnicity

How is ethnicity represented in this extract?

When you watch the last few minutes of the clip, you start to gain sympathy for the Iraq fishes because you realise that she holidays been forced to help in the bombing and you start to think that this could be the reason why some are helping with the bombing. When you first watch the clip you dont feel sorry for the Iraq people at all but when you hear about what the British and American have been doing then you start to understand why they are doing what they are doing, you dont think it is right but you see there point. I do think that you feel sorry for her because she is a women and your upset because she lost her family so even though she doesnt want to do it she feels that she has a duty to her family.

Music Magazine (L)

After collecting a few pictures from my photo shoot, i had to create a music magazine. This magazine could be on any genre. i decided to do alturnative/rock. I had to create a front cover, contents and double page spread. I decided to call my magazine 'Eletric Feel' because its simple and to the point, eletric feel is a song and sung by different aritists from different genres showing that my magazine can apply to different types of people. Also for our main story on the front cover and double page spread we had to create a new artist. i decided to create a girlband named 'JukeBox Kidz', the point of their interview was that they have been a band and made it big but had just returned from a year out of the music world.

Front Cover

This is my front cover, i decided to use the colours white,black and red i thought they were simple and stood out. The picture on my front cover is a picture of my band, and also the name of the band and reason for them been on the magazine is the biggest headline on my magazine showing that they go together. i decided to keep the top of the magazine simple and thought i would put all my achor on the bottom right and left. For my achor i decided to use real life music news. As you can i see i used photoshop to create the different effects with my writing to make it look more realistic.

Contents Page

My contents page is alot different to my front cover, i decided to use grey instead of red so that it was more suttle, and didnt copy and have the same look as my front cover. In my contents pages i put in the news from my front cover and also did some research to see what else was happening in the music world to add to my contents. I used some pictures from my photo shoot, i decided to use ones that i thought would show the different techniques that we used when creating the photo shoot and using the redhead lights.

                                                       Double Page Spread

This is my double page spread. i decided to stick to the grey, black and white theme. I decided to create the effect of snapshot pictures so i decided to do this on the right had side, and use pictures of the the people in my band, and then at the bottom use some random photos that i could write comments about. Also to make my magazine seem more real i decided to use pull quotes of what i wrote in my article, i decided to do my article as an imformal interview.

Photo Shoot :)

After i had created a college magazine i had to create a music magazine, this magazine could be any genre so we could create the magazine however we wanted to. In order to do this i had to create a photo shoot to have different types of photos that i could use to create a band or artist to use in my magazine. We had to use props to make the photos look more effective, also we used the redhead lights.

Music Magazine :)

After creating a college magazine, i have to create a music magazine, to achieve this i must do a photo shoot and use props and lighting. The type of lights i have to use are Redheads and they can be danger and must follow the health and safety rules.
Health and Safety - Using Redheads
- Emtremely fragile, so when transporting use the bag and padding. Do not knock them, 2 people should carry them.
- HOT! Take extreme care when handling the lights
- Do not cover them with anything
- do not look directly into the lights
- Switch off when not is use
- The bulb are very expensive and break very easily extreme care should be taken
- Tape down the cables

College Magazine :)

Front Cover

Before i could do my music magazine, i had to create a college magazine. i created this magazine using photoshop, which is a graphic editting program. This program is used  for media editing, animation, and authoring.

Before i could start my magazine i had to get some photos that i thought would be creative and would sell my magazine if i was selling it. The shoot i decided to use was a mid- shot. I think this shot is perfect to use in a magazine especially on a front cover because you are able to see the emotion on her face, but it is not too close so it gives you room to see the background and also it makes the writing around the image stand out. I editting the image so that the top right hand conner was really light so my masthead stood out. Also i changed the contrast so the light colours were bright and the darker colours stood out to match my masthead.

I decided to call my college magazine 'Prior' because i thought it was simple and straight to the point. The college is called Prior Pursglove and it is easy to remember and stands out. My masthead is black so that it stands out cover the light background, also i thought it matched the outfit of the model. i decided to do my achor red and black because the theme of the magazine is Halloween, and the red stands out and the black matchs with the black. Because my model had a white top on, i thought that i needed to add some white in my achor so i did my menu strip white. I think only using 3 colours means that the magazine cover all ties in together, and i think all 3 colours thats i used also tied into the Halloween theme.

I also created my contents page on photoshop. i wanted to carry on the Halloween theme that i had on my front cover.
The image i took wasnt that dark but i wanted the contrast so that the foreground was really dark and the background was light i achieved this by changing the contrast and the brightness of the image. i think this made my image more powerful almost as if the light was trapped behind the gravestone. I wanted the gravestone to be almost black then have my model standing out with bright white sleeves and red hair. I thought that this image was perfect to use for my theme, with the black, white and red following from my front cover and using the gravestone. I alos think it follows the same theme as my front cover, as in both images you can see the leaves on the floor, indercating that it is auturm.
So that my writing blended with my image i decided to use white for my writing so that it stood out infront of all the black and also so that it matched the sleeves of the model. Also using white meant that it would stand out.
